The Peter Le Marchant Trust

The Peter Le Marchant Trust was founded by a resident of Colston Bassett.  It provides "Days of Brightness" or "Holidays of a lifetime" to disabled and seriously ill children and the elderly on its specially constructed broad beam boats , Serenade and Symphony.

Melody, a smaller boat is available for families or friends with a disabled or ill person who wish to benefit from a self skippered holiday whilst having all the advantages of accessibility for a disabled person.

Symphony and Serenade are crewed and skippered by the Trust's skippers and very experienced volunteers.

The boats are equipped with hydraulic lifts, large walk or wheel in toilet areas, plus a fully equipped galley.  All three boats are carpeted throughout.

The Trust carries around 4,000 people throughout the season from April to October.  Many people comment on the friendly atmosphere, the new experience and the joy and the tranquility of being on the water, as it winds through the lovely countryside.

The Trust has recently been awarded The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, known as the "Group M.B.E".

The Trust can be contacted  at the Peter Le Marchant Trust, Canalside Moorings, Beeches Road, Loughborough, LE11 2NS.
